Why do I have to sign an NDA?
For us, it is an intentional decision to utilize the tools available to us to keep those in attendance as safe and confidential as possible, especially at a time when reproductive health, access, and pregnancy outcomes, including abortion, are highly criminalized and where we have attendees throughout the world including in places that have more restrictions.
It is also to keep our presenters’ knowledge, stories, and content safe from appropriation, commodification, and replication. While we make a lot of efforts to build out our cohorts of attendees, we also recognize that on rare occasions, folks come to this training with intentions that may not align with these values, which also helps to weed those folks out. We unapologetically value the labor, knowledge, and stories of BIPOC and want to do our part to keep that as protected as possible.
If you have any questions about the NDA, we are happy to answer.
Note: Many trainings do not have this requirement and if you feel this is not in alignment, we happily encourage you to choose a training that fits what feels good for you.

Why Birthworkers of Color Collective?
This collective was formed in response to the birth and health disparities that people of color face during pregnancy, the lack of representation, and the appropriation of traditions around pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
Our vision is to remain in a state of informed engagement, leading to practices that create space for our people to make the reproductive choices that are best for them.

“This collective reclaims our medicine, shares our knowledge with the community, and heals. Together, we are bringing unique skills, resources, and experiences to our work as birthworkers, healers and people of color.”

Our students love us
After taking the training the thing that inspired me most was getting to talk to other people who are doing this work. Seeing how they support each other and hearing about experiences they've had really inspired me.
This course is absolutely worth the time, money, and energy investment if you share a goal of making abortion safer and more accessible for all and want to envision what a forward-thinking and inclusive doula practice could look like for you.
Honestly, I feel the training really fit the way I like to learn and I was able to soak in the information while also feeling inspired to speak up and ask any questions I had. I wouldn't change anything.
